Benefits of Drinking Coffee

We all love a cup of coffee, whether it's a latte, cappuccino, iced, macchiato or a good old filter coffee.. we just can't seem to get enough of the good stuff.

Coffee has a huge range of benefits, however, those do come with some drawbacks.. especially in the way we take our coffee. But for now, we'll explain the benefits and come back to how you can negate some of the negatives of coffee.

Firstly, coffee, or more specifically caffeine within our coffee, is a massive stimulant. This can benefit us in lots of ways from increased concentration, more alertness and overall increased cognitive function. Coffee's stimulating properties also help to increase your workout intensity so you can train harder for longer. You can expect to perform better mentally and physically after a nice strong coffee!

Some studies have suggested that coffee intake is linked to a reduced risk of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease due to the effect that caffeine has on our neurotransmitters.

Caffeine has also been linked with a lower risk of depression, again down to its effect on the neurotransmitters in the brain.

Amongst other less prominent reasons, this all makes for happy coffee drinkers!

However, if you're drinking gallons of coffee every day and as a result stressing out your nervous system (you know that clammy, heart racing feeling) you'll be doing more harm than good. Also if you're having super sugary and milky lattes multiple times every day then the high fat and sugar of the milk will offset the benefits of the actual coffee. We recommend having black coffee if you want to get the full benefits, or if you need a little sweetness then go for a splash of milk instead of a massive milky latte! And lastly, if you're drinking coffee too late in the day then you'll be messing up your sleep quality so we recommend halting your caffeine intake before 2pm to get it out of your system before bedtime!
